Anti-Imperial Resistance Grid 2 - Solidarity event featuring a panel discussion on the ongoing war in Ukraine and a book presentation of “Queer Ukraine: An Anthology of LGBTQI+ voices during wartime”.
The event is featuring the presentation and a participatory reading of a collectively-written book “Queer Ukraine: An anthology of LGBTQI+ voices during wartime”, edited and presented by a queer Ukrainian activist, artist, researcher, and co-founder of Dvijka collective Vlad(a). The second part of the evening comprises a political talk and q&a on the war in Ukraine. Together with the speakers Taras Gembik (Ukrainian cultural worker, performer, co-founder of Blyzkist, Slonecznik) and Filip Kijowski (queer interdisciplinary artist and performer from Poland, founder of Biblioteka Azyl), unsettling yet crucial questions were discussed, to shed the light on the complex historical imperial and colonial context between Russia and Ukraine, as well as to give a critical perspective to the privileged perceptions in the West.
4’300 CHF were distributed between the artists, Biblioteka Azyl - Artist in Residency Programme for Ukrainian queer artists, Resistance Committee - united anti-authoritarian forces in Ukraine.
